A total of 51 Nepali nationals who were trapped and working under duress in Cambodia have been successfully rescued and repatriated to Nepal.

The rescue operation was conducted in coordination with the Nepal Embassy in Cambodia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and local law enforcement authorities.

How the Victims Were Trapped

According to officials, the victims were recruited through social media advertisements and local agents who promised high-paying overseas employment.

Upon arrival in Cambodia, their passports were confiscated and they were forced to work in scam call centers.

Government Response

The Government of Nepal has urged citizens to verify the legitimacy of foreign employment offers through the Department of Foreign Employment before accepting any overseas job.
